A farmer's story 02

In the Luguru mountains, amidst its many wonders, lies the renowned farmer Iddi Kibwana, affectionately known as Mzee Kiko, a Swahili term for Elder, owing to his remarkable age of 108. Born in Nugutu village Choma, Morogoro, Tanzania, Mzee Kiko still tends to his fields with youthful vigor and a perfect smile.
Mzee Kiko's life story began as a gardener, followed by a stint in the army, before returning to his farming roots. Beyond nurturing crops and fruits, he plants trees that embellish his village and contribute to environmental conservation. Known for his sense of humor, Mzee Kiko has imparted his legacy to his offspring, providing them with land to cultivate and sustain their families, guided by the proverb, "Mtoto wa panya hakosi mkia" (The child of a rat doesn't lack a tail).
Reflecting on his journey, Mzee Kiko humbly acknowledges using a walking stick at times, symbolizing life's phases and reminding us that "everything has a beginning and an ending."
